Rede Partners appoints Magnus Goodlad as Head of Transactions
Rede Partners, a leading independent fundraising advisor to the private equity industry, is pleased to announce the appointment of Magnus Goodlad as Head of Transactions.
Magnus brings a wealth of valuable experience as both a GP and LP, including significant transactional expertise having managed the execution and implementation of numerous sophisticated private fund and direct investments over the past twenty years working in the industry. The appointment further develops and strengthens Rede’s GP-led transactions practice, supplementing the extensive technical expertise held by Principals Mike Camacho and Julie Prewer.
Magnus’ previous roles include: Chief of Staff to Lord Rothschild, including responsibility for the private equity and venture capital investment programmes for the Rothschild family and philanthropies from 2014 to 2019; Partner at Hermes GPE, a global private equity and infrastructure fund and co-investment manager; and ten years at Top Technology Ventures and IP Group plc specialising in UK technology venture capital and intellectual property commercialisation investment. Magnus started his career qualifying as a solicitor with Slaughter and May.
Rede has advised on some of the most sophisticated and successful GP-led transactions in recent years. This includes: Miura Private Equity’s €350 million Frutas Fund and its investment in Citri&Co, the European leader in the production and sale of citrus fruit; the re-launch of Lyceum Capital as Horizon Capital with a simultaneous close of its £200m bridge fund; and MTN Group’s exiting of its interest in Amadeus Capital Partners’ Digital Prosperity Fund I to HarbourVest Partners.
Magnus will replace Yaron Zafir, who has decided to step down from his role. Yaron launched Rede’s Transactions practice in 2014 and has led it since then. In the upcoming period, Yaron will continue working with Rede as a Senior Advisor. Magnus started his new role on Monday 6 January.
Adam Turtle, Co-Founder at Rede Partners, said: “We are very pleased to have Magnus on board. Through his unique mix of experience, coupled with our existing skilled team, we can provide a distinctive proposition to our clients delivering truly accretive GP-led transactions. Having been both a GP and LP for many years, Magnus’ combination of industry-leading technical expertise with deep understanding of the drivers of dynamics between LPs and GPs is extremely valuable when managing complex and creative transactions.”
“All of us at Rede would like to thank Yaron for his significant contribution and success over the last six years. He has been a valuable member of the team and we wish him well for the future.”
Magnus Goodlad, Head of Transactions added: “I have been impressed by the way Rede has developed a proposition to meet the changing investment landscape for GPs, including GP-led transactions, as the private equity industry has evolved. I am delighted to join a business which is at the forefront of the industry and look forward to working with the team and our outstanding clients.”
